There’s an older woman who comes into the store almost every day.
And when I say you know when she has arrived… you KNOW. 😂
Every time a man walks by her, she screams. If someone doesn’t immediately stop to help her, she yells. And if you do help her? There’s still a pretty good chance you’re going to get yelled at, called a name, or spoken to like you personally ruined her entire day.
Apparently, working in retail means we checked our dignity at the door when we clocked in.
Ma’am. No. 😂
I’ve tried being patient. I’ve tried being professional. I’ve tried smiling through it while my inner voice was screaming things that would absolutely get me called into the office.
But the other day, I finally had enough.
I told her, “You are not going to talk to me like that. I chose to work here, just like you can choose not to speak to people the way you do.”
And you know what?
She is NOT making friends. 😂
At this point, when people see her coming, they scatter like somebody yelled CODE BROWN! And I can’t even blame them.
I’ve always wondered…
What exactly do you have to do to get kicked out of Walmart?
Well, apparently I may be conducting that research personally. 😂
Because there’s only so much screaming, name-calling, belittling, and treating employees like dog 💩 that people should have to tolerate before someone finally says:
“Ma’am… this is a Walmart. Not the Thunderdome.”
And here’s the thing—I actually believe in being kind to people. You never know what somebody is dealing with. Maybe she’s lonely. Maybe she’s frustrated. Maybe life has handed her more than her fair share.
I can have compassion for that.
But compassion does not mean allowing someone to abuse you.
Retail workers are people.
Cashiers are people.
Stockers are people.
Managers are people.
And the person wearing the vest who happens to be standing closest to you when you’re angry?
Yep. Still a person.
So tomorrow, when you’re out shopping, try something revolutionary:
Be nice. ❤️
And if you happen to see a woman flying through Walmart on a motorized scooter with wiry silver hair while employees dive behind displays…
Mind your business.
I’m probably handling it. 😂
Seriously, Taffie? ❤️
Life happens. Laugh anyway.
Okay, now it’s your turn… 😂
Have you ever worked retail and had that one customer everyone knew was coming before they even walked through the door? Or maybe you witnessed a public meltdown you’ll never forget?
Tell me your story in the comments. I KNOW I’m not alone. 😂
